Amongst the three most prolific female singers of the 50s and 60s HemantK has the least number of duets with Asha, most of them being under his own MD-tion. Shirin Farhad features two Hemant-Asha duets under the baton of S Mohinder. (the other being 'ae dilruba', posted a couple of months ago). In the third duet from this film, 'aa jaa o jaan-e-wafaa', Lata shares the credits with HemantK. Three male singers.. Hemant, Talat and Rafi share the playback for PradipK in this movie, with Talat (sunaauu.N kis ko afasaanaa) and Rafi (hazaaro.n ra.ng badalegaa zamaanaa) having a solo each...both beautiful in their own right. Another highlight is Lata's famous 'guzaraa huaa zamaanaa'...all in all a stellar soundtrack, IMO S Mohinder's best work. Mahendra Kapoor is the sixth singer in the sdtrk, singing the title Heer. (Correction: **** THIS IS INCORRECT -Rafi has sung both title/end songs, as mentioned by Mr. Sudhir Kakkar below) Question for Mr Sudhir Kakkar (or if someone else is aware)...which song of this movie is in Gevacolor on the DVD (as you mentioned in an earlier post)? General language question...what does "aaGaaz" as in "mera aaGaaz shirii.N hai.n " mean? Two asides(stats)...1) Other MD's that Hemant+Asha sang for include Ali Akbar Khan(Aandhiyan), Ravi(Prabhu ki Maya) and OPN (Sambandh)...any more? 2) One of Hemant's earliest duets with Geeta was under S Mohinder in Shrimatiji (1952)..a playful melody "do naina tumhare pyare pyare". These are the only two Hindi movies in which Hemant sang under SM. The third instance was in an unreleased movie "Do dost"(1960) - "ye sone ki duniya". All songs whose names have been mentioned here have lyrics in the C-ISB (or will have in the next release). \startsong \stitle{khushiyo.n ko luuT kar yahaa.N} \film{Shirin Farhad} \starring{Pradip Kumar, Madhubala} \year{1956} \singer{Hemant, Asha} \music{S Mohinder} \lyrics{Tanvir Naqvi} % %Contributor: Prithviraj Dasgupta %Transliterator: Prithviraj Dasgupta %Availablity: HMV CD Duets of Hemant Kumar (78 rpm version) % DVD/VHS movie %Date: April 24, 2002 % \printtitle #indian he: meraa aaGaaz shirii.N hai.n meraa a.njaam shirii.N hai.n mujhe farahaad kyo.n kahate ho meraa naam shirii.N hai.n (khushiyo.n ko luuT kar yahaa.N) \-2 dete hai.n Gam nishaaniyaa.N kab tak rahe.ngii pyaar par duniyaa kii maharbaaniyaa.N khushiyo.n ko luuT kar yahaa.N (raahe.n wafaa me luT gaye kitane dilo.n ke kaafile) \-2 ma.nzil pe aake aur bhii ba.Date rahe.n hai faasale (barabaad ho ke rah gayii) \- 2 aramaa.N bharii javaaniyaa.N kab tak rahe.ngii pyaar par duniyaa kii maharbaaniyaa.N khushiyo.n ko luuT kar yahaa.N aa: (kitanii hii zi.ndagaaniyaa.N rismo.n pe ho gayii fidaa) \-2 do dil mile the pyaar se duniyaa ne kar diye judaa hote rahe yuu.N hii sitam banatii rahii kahaaniyaa.N kab tak rahe.ngii pyaar par duniyaa kii maharbaaniyaa.N khushiyo.n ko luuT kar yahaa.N he: jitane khushii ke Kvaab the sab aa.Nsuuo.n me Dhal gaye gulashan me rah gayaa hai kya (tinake the chaar jal gaye) \- 2 (thaa meraa aashiiaa.N kahaa.N) \- 2 milatii nahii.n nishaaniyaa.N kab tak rahe.ngii pyaar par duniyaa kii maharbaaniyaa.N khushiyo.n ko luuT kar yahaa.N aa: aavaaz de merii Kudaa inasaaf hai kahaa.N teraa jal jayegaa jahaa.N teraa (miT jayegaa nishaa.N teraa) \- 2 (fariyaad ban gayii agar) \- 2 ulafat kii bezubaaniyaa.N kab tak rahe.ngii pyaar par duniyaa kii maharbaaniyaa.N khushiyo.n ko luut kar yahaa.N #endindian \endsong Hemant-da series URL: http://alpha.ece.ucsb.edu/~pdg/hemanta/hemantda_series Post a follow-up to this message ================================================================ Message 2 in thread From: Amit Malhotra (amit@zonecom.com) Subject: Re: khushiyo.n ko luuT kar yahaa.N...Hemantda series #90 Newsgroups: rec.music.indian.misc View this article only Date: 2002-04-25 00:20:41 PST > General language question...what does "aaGaaz" as in > "mera aaGaaz shirii.N hai.n " mean? > aaGaaz = beginning, commencement... starting, origin (opp.: Anjaam) Regards, Amit Malhotra Post a follow-up to this message ====================================================================== Message 3 in thread From: Sudhir (sudhir9@yahoo.com) Subject: Re: khushiyo.n ko luuT kar yahaa.N...Hemantda series #90 Newsgroups: rec.music.indian.misc View this article only Date: 2002-04-25 05:05:22 PST ANSWERS TO THE QUERRY + CORRECTIONS ======================================== Song in Gevacolor: Rah Rah Dil Ye Pukare / Asha + Chorus / On Screen: Ameeta + extras / Dance Scence + Closing Scenes, which has repeat of TITLE SONG / Na Tajshai Na Badshahi (short song - only 1 Para) / Rafi + Chorus - This song, which also is the Title Song and based on 'Heer Tune is by Rafi + Chorus and Not Mahendra Kapoor There is a very good Dance Music (instrumental) in the film, which appears, when Ameeta is introduced to Madhubal's father. AGAAZ: means 'beginning or start'. The counter-word for it is: ANJAAM, which means 'the end' In the film, the song: Aa Aaja Aja O Jaan-e-wafa was butchered with dialogues. The 78 rpm version is available on some Hemant Kumar's compilations It seems you don't like qawwalis, otherwise the superb number: Aakhon Mein Tumhare Jalwe Hain, would have received atleast some passing remarks. I do agree with you on one point, that it indeed is the best work of S. Mohinder and more amazing than that is the fact, that it was done for a second tier production company (Super Pictures) Sudhir --------------------------------- prithvi_dg@yahoo.com (Prithviraj Dasgupta) wrote in message > Mahendra Kapoor is the sixth singer in the sdtrk, > singing the title Heer. > > Question for Mr Sudhir Kakkar (or if someone else > is aware)...which song of this movie is in Gevacolor > on the DVD (as you mentioned in an earlier post)? > > General language question...what does "aaGaaz" as in > "mera aaGaaz shirii.N hai.n " mean? ============================================================== Message from Mr. Urzung Khan: (lyrics correction) Prithviraj Ji, Aadaab, Some corrections suggested here.
