A duet from HemantK's most famous soundtrack, Nagin. The tune of the song is loosely based on the Bengali folk song "allah megh de paanii de chhayaa de re tui". Interesting to see how the "chhod de patang" role reverses between the male and female singers right at the end of the song. The picturization of the song shows PradipK and Vyjanthimala putting on a disguise and performing on a stage at a village fair, to hide themselves from villain Jeevan and Vyjanthimala's father. According to Ravi, the original is a Kazi Nazrul composition. He(Ravi) quite openly took the credit for re-tuning the Kazi Nazrul tune, into the Nagin composition. Since we don't have HemantK to cross-check this info, I will leave it to each individual person, on whether they want to believe this story or not. Abbasuddin, the legendary folk singer-composer from Bangladesh, *did* sing several songs composed by Nazrul. However, this particular song is almost synonymous with Abbas and I, till date, haven't seen/heard Nazrul's name being mentioned anywhere, in the context of this song. any idea, anyone? Corrections to the lyrics have aleeady been provdided by Urzung Khan. In the last stanza, there are some additional words, which have been chopped off on the video and the currently available LPs/CDs, but could be heard on the 78 rpm records. The exact spot is highlighted by ****. I hereby invite Mr. Jayaraman to put those "missing" words on RMIM, from his collection of 78 rpm discs. > >la: dekh chalii ye sa.ng hawaa ke >balakhaatii iThalaatii >saiyaa.N balakhaatii iThalaatii >he: chiir ke pyaarii jag kaa siinaa >giit pyaar ke gaatii >dekho giit pyaar ke gaatii ********************************* >hai.n kis me itana zor >jo kaaTe Dor saamane aa_e na >la: phir merii aTariyaa pe >chho.D de patan.g saiyaa.N chho.D de >he: aise chho.Duu.N na sajaniyaa >nainawaa ke Dor pahale jo.D de > Happy listenings.
