ham chaahe.n yaa na chaahe.n

Continuing on the strain of philosophical songs after din raat badalte hai.n, here is a guest post from Vijay(vijaykumark@my-Deja.com) featuring a song of Hemant Kumar from the 70-s.

-Prithviraj

A little gem from Hemantada's latter days in HFM. This is not often touted as one of Hemantada's best songs, but deserves to be. It has the same gentle combination of censure and strength as "yaa dil kii suno", the notes flow sweetly, the words well articulated, highlighting the poetry. The accompaniment is just pat, neither too subdued nor intrusive, not too brooding but just a hint of strength and cheer in adversity. All in all, a composite of great class.

Here is "ham chaahe.n yaa na chaahe.n"

ham chaahe.n yaa naa chaahe.n
hamaraahii banaa letii hai.n
hamako jiivan kii raahe.n
ham chaahe.n yaa na chaahe.n \threedots

ye raahe.n kahaa.N se aate
ye raahe.n kahaa.N le jaate
raahe.n dharatii ke tan par
aakaash kii phailii baahe.n
ham chaahe.n yaa na chaahe.n \threedots

utaraa aakaash dharaa par
tan man kar diyaa nichhaavar
jo phuul khilaanaa chaahe.n
ha.Ns ha.Ns kar saath nibaahe.n
ham chaahe.n yaa na chaahe.n \threedots
