A very very pleasant surprise for me to find a gujarati Hemant Kumar song. When I saw his face along with the faces of Manna, Talat, Meena on the CD/tape, I just had to pick it up. I liked the collection. The following song is from the album: Ghazal aney Geeto. They are probably all non-filmi ghazals and geets. It is available in both CD and tape format on HMV.
His pronunciation is quite okay(but not as impeccable as Lata/Asha/Kishore's Let me try my hand at the translation for those who don't understand gujarati:
Today you are going to step here and everyone in the garden knows. all branches has bowed their necks and the flowers have lowered their gaze.
Since they are shy, the flowerbuds are hiding behind the curtain of leaves and watching everything...to tell you the truth, the atmosphere isunder the effect of your eyes.
The dawn has slogged all night to lay out a bed of pearls, Welcome as the garden is complete with everything..(bad job in translating:()
If you are present the garden seems like an artist's completed painting.
If you are not around, then everyone says that 'vidhaata' has left out something..
I apologize, I don't think I have done justice to the song, but I am sure other gujarati rmimers can improve on it
