Badli mein chhipe chaand

A duet this time..of course with Lata. Anyone who disagrees with my claim that "Lata-Hemant combo is one of the very best", please, listen to this song and then come and talk to me. Lata, as was usual in that period, sounds exquisite. One of the admirable qualities of Lata is that she will never overdo a emotion (aur unnecessary-nakhre to wo apne nagmon mein bilkul nahi daalti..thank god!:)). Neither will she underdo them. (and I refuse to accept any disagreements about this, so please dont bother) with this. Just the right amount of everything is what you get from her which makes her songs appealing. So is the case with Hemantda. I forget the pstats of this song. But Hemantda himself could be the composer... It is very much in his style.. but the way the duet is formatted is very typical of SDB too..Maybe it is my bias that "no one makes duets like SDB" that inclines me towards him as a possible MD...A fascinatingly romantic song...the lyrics of the last stanza are very cute portraying the possessiveness and protectiveness that are a part of love. Enjoy the song..

lata: badli mein chhipe mein chaand ne kuchh mujhse kaha hai..
badli mein chhipe mein chaand ne kuchh mujhse kaha hai..
hemant: hamne bhi suna hai...
lata: gaati huyi ek geet naya aayi hawa hai...
hemant: hamne bhi suna hai...

lata: ye rangbhari raat ye chanda ye sitaare...
ye rangbhari raat ye chanda ye sitaare...
hemant: ek saath hamein dekhke karte hain ishaare...
lata: kehte hai zameen par koi dil dilse mila hai...
hemant: hamne bhi suna hai...

both: badli mein chhipe chaand ne kuchh mujhse kaha hai..
hamne bhi suna hai...

hemant: do chaand chamakte hain main kis chaand ko dekhun...
do chaand chamakte hain main kis chaand ko dekhun...
lata: us chaand ko main chhod ke is chaand ko dekhun...
lata: wo chaand to duniya ka hai ye chaand mera hai...
hemant: hamne bhi suna hai..

both: badli mein chhipe chaand ne kuchh mujhse kaha hai..
hamne bhi suna hai...

lata: mat dekh mere chaand ko O chaand jalan se..
mat dekh mere chaand ko O chaand jalan se..
lata: main tod ke rakh dungi tujhe neel gagan se...
hemant: milte huey dil dekh ke ye chaand jala hai..
lata: hamne bhi suna hai...

both: badli mein chhipe chaand ne kuchh mujhse kaha hai..
hamne bhi suna hai...

Another unusual attribute of this duet is that the pattern that the male-female singers follow varies with each stanza...normally in duets they follow the same pattern. It is easy to note the LHLH, HLLH, LLHL pattern in the 3 stanzas.. This makes the song even more endearing...
