Information Technology

1. Principle Investigator for STATPack™ software engineering research project initiated in 2002. This project includes research on the usability and interface design of the STATPack™ application, using open source software such as Jabber, White Box, and Apache. The system was engineered to operate on a Linux platform using Java Script, Perl, php, and html. Security issues and solutions are continually being researched. Agile development methodologies are being analyzed and evaluated. Additional research funding beyond NRI funding is $172,250 (2004), $82,500 (2005), $3,700 (2005), $37,500 (2006). 20 STATPack™s have been deployed at Nebraska Public Health Laboratories. This project involves technical oversight of several undergraduate and graduate students in MIS and Computer Science. The project includes a security audit research project.

2. Faculty Research Sponsor for three students doing research on the development of an animal tracking system using RFID, wireless and mobile computing technology. Fall 2005.

3. STRATCom C2SES researcher on Agile Methods for system development for Northrup Gruman includes funding two graduate research assistants with tuition and stipend for four years.
